She says: “These informational sessions will enable prospective students to meet the Hodges nursing faculty who will discuss the program’s curriculum and format, which allows students to enter the workforce one semester earlier than other traditional programs. Students will also have the opportunity to tour our state-of-the-art nursing simulation laboratory.”

How Do I Get Started in the Nursing Program?

To be eligible to begin the BS in Nursing program, there are prerequisites. If you have the AA in Pre-Nursing you will be prepared to qualify for this program however, comparable qualifications are accepted.

Have you already taken some health courses? That’s great! We accept transfer students into the Pre-Nursing program and will evaluate the courses you’ve completed and the courses we require. You may be able to take a few courses and then start on the BS in Nursing depending on how much education you’ve received.

Hodges' Associate in Pre-Nursing Start in Nursing Today. Help People Tomorrow.

Get a well-rounded education when you start with the Associate in Arts (A.A.) degree. You’ll be exposed to a variety of subjects necessary for beginning your degree. You will be required to complete a total of 60 credit hours, 36 hours in general education courses and 24 hours in the Pre-Nursing program. This will ensure you have the background to begin the intensive Nursing program and succeed.

When you have completed at least 30 pre-nursing credits of the science and liberal arts courses, you will be eligible to apply to the nursing core. We consider each candidate carefully and look at characteristics such as GPA, Test of Excellence in Academic Success (TEAS) score, a pre-enrollment interview with faculty, and an application essay on a selected topic. You’ve got this.
