Find Your Pathway To Success With Our ESL Program!

This certificate program is designed to provide English as a Second Language (ESL) instruction to enhance your existing knowledge, training, and job skills when English is a foreign language. Additionally, the certificate program will further your ability to communicate in English and pursue employment or college opportunities in the United States.

The program focuses on enhancing and developing grammar, reading, writing, listening and speaking skills and comprehension. Additionally, computer-assisted learning reinforces your English language studies and software skills.

Our English As A Second Lanugage (ESL) program is also available through our online Technology Enabled Classroom (TEC) format. You can learn English from the comfort of your home, whether you are here in the United States, or abroad. A VISA is not required to take the online class, allowing our students to become certified in English from wherever they may be located globally.

Where Can You Take ESL?

Hodges offers the ESL course at the Fort Myers and Naples Campuses at two convenient times.

  • 8:30 a.m. – 1:20 p.m. Monday – Thursday
  • 5:00 p.m. – 9:50 p.m. Monday – Thursday

Online ESL Classes. Take ESL classes online with our Technology Enhanced Classroom (TEC) environment. This option is available to those looking for English Certification within the United States or worldwide.

Three 16-Week Courses Per Level

  • Grammar (Levels 1-3)
  • Reading/Writing (Levels 1-3)
  • Listening/Speaking (Levels 1-3)

Admission Requirements For ESL Programs:

  • Applicants must have a high school diploma or GED.
  • Applicants must have legal status to live and/or study in the United States for our in-person course. No visa is required for our online classroom environment.
  • Applicants must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Applicants must complete an ESL Applicant Qualification form, which is used to determine eligibility to enroll in the program.

 

Financial Aid is available for Levels 1-3 for students who qualify. Speak to an Admissions Coordinator to find out if you qualify for Financial Aid.

*Please note, those with an F1 Visa will need to attend our ESL class in person.

College Prep English Details

College Preparatory English

A noncredit, college preparatory English course is also offered at the advanced level. This course is designed to provide English language instruction to advanced learners of English who are preparing for college or need to increase their knowledge of academic English for professional purposes.

Hodges offers the College Preparatory English course at the Fort Myers and Naples Campuses at two convenient times.

Intensive English Bridge

Intensive English Program Bridge

The Intensive English Program Bridge is designed for those who need English language instruction to pursue a degree at Hodges University. This program offers students whose native language is not English intensive courses designed to prepare you to read, write, and use grammar and vocabulary. Our program is taught by ESL teachers who provide extensive practice in understanding and using college-level material.

Intensive English Program

A 12-credit course is offered at an advanced level of English proficiency, determined upon taking the HU Entrance Test. A 16-week course is offered at the Fort Myers and Naples campuses.
