English as a Second Language (ESL)

This certificate program is designed to provide English as a Second Language (ESL) instruction to enhance your existing knowledge, training, and job skills when English is a foreign language. Additionally, the certificate program will further your ability to communicate in English and pursue employment opportunities in the United States.

The focus of the program is on a) speaking and listening comprehension for speakers of other languages; b) vocabulary and reading comprehension; and c) grammar and writing skills. Computer-assisted language learning enables you to reinforce your English skills. Dr. Leisha Cali, Hodges’ ESL director, provides three tips to increase your English skills while in college.
